Hebrew National teamed up with theMotherhood.com to host a series of “Picnics for a Purpose” this summer.
I attended the Virginia Beach one today, hosted by Carmen of Mom to the Screaming Masses, a friend from church. The “admission” to the picnic was food donations for Seton House, a local counseling center and shelter for troubled teens. The kids also had a blast painting some bookshelves for Seton House.
I don’ t know what the final headcount was, but three or four dozen people, including several local bloggers, were there. At her house! It was supposed to be at a local park, but the constant pouring rain nixed that idea. Carmen’s great at being flexible, so it was over to her house for an indoor picnic (complete with margarita cupcakes).
In all the negative news out there, it’s great to see a little positive stuff, a way to give something back to those less fortunate. I thought it was nice that Hebrew National decided to not just give away stuff for PR, but to encourage people to help local charities, too.
And, oh yeah, it was fun and the hot dogs were good, too. 😉
(I forgot to take my camera, so I only got a shot of the kids in their free t-shirts and face painting at home.)
Go see Carmen’s post on the picnic; she covered it much better than I did!
