I wanted to make sure everyone saw this info. I got a comment on the March for Life post from 2009, where I had a photo of the ByzanTEENS sign, bearing an icon of the Visitation, with the unusual twist of showing the babies in the womb: Jesus is blessing the kneeling John the Baptist, both in utero, as their mothers greet each other.
Someone else used my photo, and, through the other blogger, I learned it came from Eikona Studios in Ohio. At the time, I looked them up, but couldn’t find any reference to that particular icon, nor any indication that they sold copies of any of their work, which includes icons, carvings, and complete church renovations. Their website is inspiring, and their work is absolutely gorgeous; I wish my parish would hire them!
Today, however, one of the studio’s founders left me a comment with the full information for the icon:
Visitation Icon with Christ and St. John the Baptist in the wombs by the hand of iconographer Christine Uveges at Eikona Studios
The extra-good news is that they are now selling the icon in both notecard and poster form in the store section of the redesigned website. The image on the sign is actually a detail of the larger image. (And no, as usual, I am in no way affiliated with nor paid by people I suggest; I loved the icon, intend to buy one, and thought y’all might be interested, too.)
The only question now is where will I put it…
